It is once again time to start posting on a regular basis again. Today
I went to Dayton Ohio to the Hamvention. I went over with
Sydelko. I probably shouldn't have spent the money that I did, but I
had never been to a hamfest before, so what the hell. I had a good
time and saw a lot of strange stuff.
I am just now beginning to depressurize after a week of being out of
class. The decafination ritual is in full effect. Things won't be too
terribly interesting for a while so I will try to retroactively
update you on the past couple of weeks in the coming weeks.

I had a nice restful day of doing nothing today. I was woken by the
sounds of Yakov and his girlfriend(?) moving his stuff out. Oh yeah, I
forgot to mention: Yakov got a job with Raytheon in Indianapolis and
plans to be out of the house by the end of the month. I did some
cleaning, replaced my shoelaces, went grocery shopping, and generally
did nothing. Chris came over and watched some TV. Someone tried to
sell us magazines.
I forgot to mention last night that I recovered the mp3s. This needs
some explaining because the night the hard drive gave out was during
the brain burn weeks. As you have surmised I had one of my newer hard
drives fail and I nearly lost the entire full albums collection as a
result. I followed one of
these suggestions and managed to get the data off. Oddly enough
placing the drive in the refrigerator overnight actually
worked. Truth is stranger than fiction.

I didn't accomplish much today. I got up late and went in to work. I
dropped a copy of MSFT Visual Studio .net off with Chris. As much
as I dislike working in Microsoft land it is for a good
cause. Professor Simonsen is finally pushing for a big open source
release of our project. She would like for her fellow statisticians
and biologists to be able to make use of it. That means a simple
Windows GUI and I am happy to oblige.
After coming into work late I ducked out early and met up with Terry,
Lita, and Lehmann. We drove down to Castleton to hang out with Yost
and a couple of his friends (who's names I have already forgotten). We
cooked, played Mario Kart, and watched West Wing and Law &
Order. Good times were had by all.
When I returned to das Haus I discovered that Matt had gone on a
cleaning spree. Needless to say this was much needed and much
appreciated. I joined him and we cleaned until the early hours of the
morning.
Incidently I am currently reading Quicksilver by Neal
Stephenson. I enjoy it, but I think it would only be interesting to
nerds and history buffs. It is rather slow for the first 350 pages or
so. Fortunately that is only one third of this enormous tome.

I didn't get much sleep last night. We are setting up the game night
tradition fairly well. I roused myself from bed at a reasonable hour
today and got some real actual work done. I met with Professor
Xie.
After work I made myself some black beans and rice. I
finished catching up on something positive and
talked with my roommate about potential employment opportunities. Busy
day, lazy evening.
04:56:01 Sunday May 23 2004
Not much was accomplished today. I talked with Castor for a
while. Apparently he is working at Village Pantry in Muncie for the
summer.
Lehmann and Paul came over this afternoon. We played a round
of Settlers of Catan. After that we went over to John's. He ran the
first game of his new vampire hunters campaign. It was slow to start, but
it shows a lot of promise. There was a time when John ran a game every
week like clockwork, but lately he has avoided GM-ing all together. I
certainly understand gaming burnout, however I wonder if that is all
there is to it.
05:06:00 Monday May 24 2004
This evening was my opportunity to be the geek master. I ran my
Ravenloft game again for the first time in several months. All went
well enough. There was much pirate flavor in this particular session
and all was well. Tomorrow I am going to run Paul down to Anderson to
get a new car.
03:30:33 Tuesday May 25 2004
I ran back to A-Town today. Paul got his car problems all straightened
out. I saw the family and ate some fish. After I returned Terry tried
to run me off the road, then we came back to my house and watched some
Bullshit. I have nearly
got the archiver working for qblog. I should finish that tomorrow
night. Hopefully I will also get a start on the RSS feed as well.
04:08:13 Wednesday May 26 2004
Met with Katy today. It looks like our project is moving towards
release nicely. Many of the thanks for being on schedule with the GUI
belong to Chris.
After I made it home I called Cara. She did me two favors. (1)
She agreed
to inquire about a job at the Edgewood Country Club for Robin and
(2) she agreed to allow me to escort her to Kelli's wedding
next month.
I watched an unnatural amount of television after that. The Return
of the King as well as Buffy the Vampire Slayer : Season 6
came out on DVD today and John was gracious enough to allow Matt and
myself to view them.
As a side note I should add that the archive feature of qblog is
greatly improved. But don't take my word for it see for yourself. Look for an RSS feed in
the near future.
