/var/log/nolandda now returns you to your regularly scheduled
program.
Today is my father's birthday. I was in A-Town to celebrate with him
yesterday. I recovered all of his old genealogy data from our old IBM
AT and gave it to him as a gift.
This morning I attempted to call my mother in South Africa. Africa is
broken. Someone needs to fix it. I swear that Cape Town has as many
telephone circuits as Daleville, IN.
I gave a presentation at work today. It went all right, but I should
have run through it a couple of times beforehand. I stumbled once or
twice during the presentation.
This evening I was supposed to go out drinking with John and his
sister Misty. However times got mixed up or something and after
waiting at Fazolis for the better part of an hour I gave up and went
over to Terry's to drink with he and Lita.
Watched The Stepford Wives(1975) upon my return to the house. It
is a dark, but very good flick. I recommend it unconditionally. I wonder
how the remake will hold up. I should read the book also.
Speaking of which I am currently reading Krakatoa by Simon
Winchester. I picked it up because of a positive review on NPR and
because I enjoyed The Professor and The Madman. While the
author's ability to make dry subjects fascinating is clearly evident
again in this book, I already know most everything there is to know
about plate tectonics and subduction zones and the like. Therefore I
find myself skimming most of the book.
