I survived my trip to Florida. We got Brad packed up and then moved to extricate ourselves from the south with maximum expediency.

I did get the opportunity to meet Brad's father on the way back up. He is a very interesting, friendly, and geeky gentleman, which is more or less what I was expecting. The interesting discovery was that Brad interacts with his father almost identically to the way he interacts with his friends. They exchange book and movie recommendations. They crack wise about stupid people. And they discuss which actresses they would like to "have relations" with.

After an unpleasant and unscheduled stop west of Chattanooga we made it safely back to West Lafayette. We spent the next two days recovering, unpacking, and re-arranging. My Gooseberries arrived in the mail on Saturday. I quickly got them in the ground. I have noticed that my subconscious plan for the garden appears to be to dig up everything decorative and replace it with something thorny and fruit bearing. This evening we completed episode three of the new Melderon game. I like several of the characters that were introduced.

Not a whole lot to report this week. Brad had his first week at Arxan. He and I are working on some XML stuff. Sara was here for less than 24 hours before she was summoned to Pennsylvania for her grandmother's Funeral. I did a great deal of chores, but I am still behind somehow.

This evening I joined Terry, Brad, and Brian Weichel at the Neon Cactus. It was smokey, loud, and crowded. Some idiot burned me with his cigarette. I had to step out around midnight and take a walk lest I lose it. It was not a pleasant experience.

Today is flag day, which is also the birthday of the United States Army.

On 14 June 1775 the Continental Congress adopted "The American Continental Army" after reaching a consensus position in The Committee of the Whole. Congress undertook to raise ten companies of riflemen, approved an enlistment form for them, and appointed a committee (including Washington and Schuyler) to draft rules and regulations for the government of the army. See: [1].

This makes the US Army is 230 years old. Strangely enough our army is one year and twenty days older than our country (4 July 1776). Rob, our resident U.S. Army (Retired) expert brought a flag for his door today.

So as it turns out I have a genetic disorder. Thanks mom and dad :) My dental hygienist discovered tori mandibularis in my mouth during my pre-cleaning screening. I didn't even notice them growing. I thought that everyone had them. Apparently this is not the case. It is an autosomal dominant trait most frequently found in populations which have historically lived in the northern latitudes. Interestingly it may be a cause of sleep apnea. Perhaps I should notify my father of this.

My recent surge of dental work has finally come to an end. Yesterday I had a standard cleaning and a root planing. My readers are now safe from my inexplicable fascination with all things dental for another six months.

To the right you will find photographic evidence that Castor does not show up on film.

Episode four of Melderon took place on Saturday. Sara's character was introduced. She has had some negative experiences with D&D in the past. Hopefully she will enjoy this a bit more.

Sunday was Father's Day. I went home and gave my father his present. Afterwards we had Chinese food.

I am going to be out of town again. Would be assassins should consult the following table:

I have returned safely from San Francisco. I am hesitant to post pictures or make many log entries because the hosting box is having some serious hardware problems. Hopefully things will be back to normal soon.
