Former Secretary of State Dr Madeline Albright spoke in the PMU ballroom this evening. The talk was sponsored by The College of Engineering as part of their National Engineers Week celebrations. The title of her speech was Globalizing the World's Technology Supply. The talk primarily focused on issues associated with the rapid technical advancement of South Asia in general and China and India in particular. Dr Albright readily admitted that she had very little technical expertise, but stuck to areas she understood well such as competition for natural resources and the need for more science education. She was very good about preventing herself from getting drawn off topic, yet still managed to lighten things up with the occasional interesting story of life in the land of the diplomats. Photos here.
