After the terrorist attacks of September eleventh 2001 the Department of Homeland Security was established. During their review of the intelligence services and several top secret military projects it was revealed that a project, code named "anomalous monkey", had yielded some surprisingly promising results. The stated goal of the project was to create super soldiers.

Due to public sentiment concerning the possibility that the attacks could have been prevented by biologically enhanced humans and the incredible upswing in volunteerism the project was opened to civilian research.

Purdue was one of thirteen large land grant universities to be chosen to conduct biological enhancement research. Ground was broken on the Biological Enhancement Building in April of 2003 and work, including the installation of the Biological Enhancement Engine, was completed on July 4th 2004. At this time many preeminent scientists from various disciplines and even some of the original researchers from project anomalous monkey joined the faculty. Doctor Willard Farnham became the first head of the department.

Shortly after testing on civilians began it was discovered that terrorists had infiltrated many of the biological enhancement programs. Although many of them were American citizens they began to engage in criminal and terrorist behavior using their super human abilities. To respond to this new threat the biological enhancement department changed its name to the department of super heroics and changed the focus of its educational program to teach students civilian crime fighting techniques.

In 2005 the federal government instituted the BEFINE program to help relieve the financial burden on students.

In 2006 the department of robotics was founded. In that same year the J Edgar Hoover Intelligence Building was completed. The departments of robotics and superheroics immediately joined together to help the federal agents fight the terrorist threat.

In 2008 Professor Cataclysm, a PUSH alumnus, made the generous donation of a new psychological sciences building to the university. The Building was completed in 2009, and dedicated to helping biologically enhanced students work out their emotional problems in a healthy manner.

Today the department of super heroics continues to use the best science and training available to produce super heroes that will be able to aid the local and federal law enforcement or the military in defending the United States of America from terrorist attacks.
